Gateway Marietta CID Announces Contract Extension With Automatic License Plate Reader Company Flock Safety

GATEWAY MARIETTA CID ANNOUNCES CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH AUTOMATIC LICENSE PLATE READER COMPANY FLOCK SAFETY
February 22, 2021, Marietta, GA – Gateway Marietta Community Improvement District (GMCID), a self-taxing district established by property owners for purposes of improving local infrastructure & public safety, has announced a contract extension of their partnership with Flock Safety, the only automatic license plate reading (ALPR) camera system built specifically for neighborhoods and communities. Under the partnership, four privately-owned ALPR cameras were installed in Marietta in early 2019. The new contract extends the GMCID’s relationship with Flock Safety through 2023.
According to Marietta Police Department Major John King, the cameras are the four top-performing cameras within the City of Marietta. They average 44 hits per month and an 80% capture rate of stopping the vehicle and resolving the issue. The cameras have helped recover over $100,000 of property and have led to a reduction of crime along Franklin Gateway.
Due to positive feedback and the information the Flock Safety cameras provided to law enforcement, the City of Marietta has installed an additional 22 cameras and Cobb County has installed over 40 cameras.
